Summer protection scales with area — not with guesswork. For **window mesh**, add **12% waste** then divide by a **1.5 m roll width**: **8 m²** of glazing → **9 m² mesh** → **~6 m of roll**. For a **15 m² terrace dinner**, plan **2 citronella candles** (~12 m² each) plus **1 mosquito coil** (~25 m² for 4–6 hours) — spaced around seating, not only at the table.

Citronella candles or mosquito coils on the terrace?+
Use both for a 3–4 hour dinner: candles create a scent barrier at seating height; coils cover wider ground level. Keep coils on a metal holder, away from tablecloths. Neither replaces window screens if you sleep nearby with doors open.
